The Low-Voltage Advantage
Running on 24 volts DC instead of mains voltage significantly reduces the risk of electric shock, particularly for fittings near bathroom sinks, outdoor entertaining areas, or a boat's wet zones. Frosted glass diffuses the light evenly with no hotspot, and is the better choice behind fabric or paper shades, since a clear bulb can cast filament shadows a frosted one avoids. When switched off, the frosted glass has a quiet, milky translucence that sits unobtrusively in the fitting.
It's compatible with PWM and 1–10V dimmers, so the glow can still be tuned to the occasion on a low-voltage circuit, holding a steady, flicker-free dim curve that keeps the soft, diffused character consistent whether the fitting is running at full brightness or dimmed for the evening.
