Most rooms in an Australian home have at least one fitting where dimming matters: the pendant above the dining table, the bedside lamp, the chandelier in the hallway, the bathroom vanity. A dimmable LED bulb lets you set the right level of light for the moment without swapping bulbs or adding complexity to the room.

Dulora's dimmable LED range is built around one principle: the bulb should disappear into the fitting and let the light do the work. That means flicker-free light at every brightness level, with no visible flicker when fully lit and smooth, flicker-free dimming on a compatible dimmer switch. Every 240V bulb in this collection works with most incandescent and LED dimmers and carries SAA certification for the Australian market. Dulora’s own dimmers are all trailing-edge and confirmed compatible. For 12V and 24V DC bulbs in this range, dimming is handled by a compatible low-voltage driver rather than a wall dimmer; see the individual product page for driver details.

The range covers every socket in our range. E27 and B22 are the most widely used, with the broadest selection of shapes, from everyday GLS bulbs and frosted globes through to decorative candles, oversized G125 statement globes, and vintage Edison styles. E14 and B15 suit pendant clusters, chandeliers, and decorative wall sconces where a smaller base is required. E12 mini Edison screw fittings cover imported candelabras, compact decorative pendants, and low-voltage installations where the E14 base will not fit. Color temperature runs from 2000K ultra warm through 2200K extra warm and 2700K warm white for living and dining spaces, up to 3000K soft white for kitchens and bathrooms, and 4000K natural white where a crisp, task-ready tone is needed. All Dulora dimmable bulbs are flicker-free, covered by up to three years' warranty, and rated by thousands of verified Australian customers. Browse the full range of LED light bulbs.

Buying Guide
What makes a bulb dimmable, and why does it matter?

A dimmable LED bulb contains internal circuitry that works with a compatible dimmer switch to smoothly reduce light output, rather than simply cutting power. Standard non-dimmable LEDs are not designed for this: they may flicker, buzz, or fail prematurely if used on a dimmer circuit.

Which socket do I need: E27, E14, E12, B22, or B15?

The socket type is determined by your fitting, not your preference, so check before ordering. E27 and B22 are the most common in Australian homes: E27 is the large Edison screw used in most pendants and floor lamps, while B22 is the bayonet found in most ceiling roses and table lamps. E14 and B15 are their smaller equivalents, used in candelabras, chandeliers, and decorative wall sconces. E12 mini Edison screw is a candelabra base that turns up in imported fittings and specialist decorative pendants in our range. If you are unsure which base your fitting uses, remove the existing bulb: a screw thread indicates an Edison screw, two small pins with a twist-lock indicate a bayonet cap. For a full overview, see the bulb socket guide.

What color temperature should I choose for a dimmable bulb?

Color temperature determines the warmth or coolness of the light, and it matters more in dimmable settings because the mood you are creating at lower levels depends heavily on the tone of the bulb. For living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms where you want a warm, relaxed atmosphere, 2700K warm white is the most widely used residential choice. For a deeper, more candlelit feel at low levels, 2200K extra warm or 2000K ultra warm will give a richer, amber-toned glow. For kitchens and bathrooms where you need clarity alongside the ability to dim, 3000K soft white balances warmth with brightness. Color temperature stays constant as you dim a standard LED, so a 2700K bulb stays warm at any level. Browse our dimmable warm white range or explore the full LED light bulb range.

What shape should I choose for my fitting?

Shape affects both how the bulb looks in the fitting and how light is distributed. For open pendants and exposed fittings where the bulb is visible, a decorative shape such as a candle, G45 fancy round, or G95 to G125 globe adds deliberate visual interest. For enclosed fittings such as table lamps with fabric shades or glass bowl pendants, a GLS or frosted globe distributes light evenly without hotspots. Candle bulbs suit chandeliers, multi-arm pendants, and wall sconces with small E14 or B15 bases: browse the dimmable candle range. For large exposed pendants or statement table lamps where visual weight matters, the globe range at /collections/globe-dimmable-led-light-bulbs covers G80, G95, and G125 sizes. For vintage-style open fittings where an Edison silhouette suits the room, see here. For narrow fittings where a standard globe will not fit, the dimmable tubular range is the practical solution. If the fitting itself is the focal point, mirror crown bulbs redirect light back into the fitting for a softer, ambient result.

Frequently Asked Questions: Dimmable LED Bulbs

  • Do I need a special dimmer switch for LED bulbs?
  • Not always. Dulora dimmable bulbs work with most incandescent and LED dimmers already installed in Australian homes. Where flickering or buzzing occurs, it is usually an older dimmer that cannot handle the lower current LEDs require. Replacing it with an LED-compatible model resolves this. Dulora's own dimmers are trailing-edge and confirmed compatible: see the full range.
  • Why are my dimmable LED bulbs flickering?
  • Flickering in dimmable LED bulbs is almost always caused by an incompatible dimmer switch rather than a faulty bulb. Most older dimmer switches were designed for incandescent or halogen loads and do not handle the lower minimum current LEDs require. Replacing the dimmer with a trailing-edge LED-compatible model resolves the issue in the majority of cases. See our compatible dimmer switch range.
  • Can I use a dimmable LED bulb in a non-dimmable fitting?
  • Yes, without any issue. A dimmable LED bulb operates at full brightness in a standard non-dimmable socket with no performance penalty. The dimmable rating indicates capability, not a requirement. Non-dimmable bulbs used on a dimmer circuit, however, will flicker or fail prematurely.
  • What CRI do Dulora dimmable LED bulbs have?
  • CRI ratings vary across the dimmable range depending on the product; full specifications are listed in each product's specification table. A higher CRI value means colors in the room look more accurate and vivid under the light. One thing to note with dimmable bulbs: CRI stays consistent across the full dimming range, from full brightness down to the lowest level on a compatible dimmer.
  • Can I replace dimmable halogen bulbs with LED?
  • Yes, and the swap is straightforward in most cases. Dimmable LED bulbs are a direct drop-in replacement for halogen in the same socket size, use a fraction of the energy, and last significantly longer. The one step to check is your dimmer switch: many dimmers installed for halogen bulbs have a minimum load rating that LEDs fall below, which can cause flickering. An LED-compatible dimmer resolves this. Dulora's own dimmers are trailing-edge and confirmed compatible: see the range.
