Het voordeel van laagspanning
Bij 24 volt DC vermindert deze lamp het risico op een elektrische schok aanzienlijk vergeleken met een variant op netspanning: een lichtsnoer dat over een zwembadterras, de cockpit van een boot of een andere aan weer blootgestelde buitenruimte loopt, komt hiervoor in aanmerking, vooral wanneer het snoer binnen handbereik hangt van iemand die in de buurt staat of zwemt. Het breukvaste polycarbonaat zorgt naast de elektrische veiligheidsmarge voor extra fysieke duurzaamheid, zodat het snoer zowel onbedoeld contact als de normale slijtage van een buitenseizoen doorstaat, zonder de goedkeuring van een erkend elektricien die doorgaans vereist zou zijn voor een installatie op netspanning zo dicht bij water.
De lamp is compatibel met PWM- en 1–10V-dimmers en behoudt een vloeiende, flikkervrije dimcurve, zodat het lichtsnoer ondanks de werking op een laagspanningscircuit voor de gelegenheid kan worden gedimd.
