Smart Plug-in Dimmer: Troubleshooting

Smart Plug-in Dimmer: Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing issues with your Dulora Smart Plug-in Dimmer (Model DIM400-SMART), this guide covers the most common problems and how to resolve them.

Device Won't Connect to Wi-Fi

This is the most common issue, and it is almost always related to the Wi-Fi network type.

Check these first:

  • Confirm your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, not 5GHz. The dimmer does not support 5GHz networks.
  • If your router is dual-band, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks must be separated so your phone can connect to 2.4GHz specifically during setup.
  • Check the Wi-Fi password is entered correctly.
  • Make sure your router's wireless mode is not set to 5GHz only. The encryption type should be WPA2-PSK with AES, or set to auto.
  • Check that MAC filtering is not enabled on your router. If it is, either disable it or add the dimmer's MAC address to the allowed list.
  • Make sure the number of devices connected to your router hasn't reached the maximum connection limit. If it has, try disconnecting another device and re-attempting.
  • Keep the dimmer, router, and phone close together during setup to ensure a strong signal.
  • Name your Wi-Fi network using English characters only. Non-Latin characters in the network name can cause connection failures.

Red Light Is Steady and Device Shows as Offline

A steady red light means the device is not connected to the network.

  1. Press the ON/OFF button on the dimmer 3 times quickly to put it back into pairing mode. The light should begin blinking quickly.
  2. Open the Smart Life app and re-add the device using the standard setup steps.
  3. If you have recently changed your router or internet provider, the device will need to be re-paired to the new network.

Lights Are Flickering

Flickering is usually caused by one of the following:

  1. Minimum brightness set too low. Open the Smart Life app, go to the device settings, and increase the minimum brightness range. The default is 18%. Increase it until the flickering stops.
  2. Bulb type not set correctly. In the device settings, confirm the correct bulb type is selected: LED, Incandescent, or Halogen.
  3. Bulb not rated for dimming. Not all LED bulbs are compatible with dimmers. The bulb must be specifically marked as dimmable.
  4. Voltage instability. If lights flicker across multiple devices in your home, this may be a broader electrical issue rather than a dimmer problem.

If adjusting the minimum brightness and bulb type settings does not resolve the flickering, try a different dimmable bulb.

Google Assistant Won't Connect

  • Confirm your Smart Life account is not registered to a China region. China-region accounts do not support Google Assistant. You will need to create a new Smart Life account using a non-China region such as Australia or the United States.
  • Make sure the Google Home app is installed and you are signed in to your Google account.
  • Try unlinking and re-linking Smart Life from the Google Home app.

Device Goes Offline After Changing Routers

The dimmer is paired to a specific router. If your router is changed, replaced, or the dimmer is moved to a different location with a different network, it will show as offline.

  1. Press the ON/OFF button 3 times quickly to reset pairing mode.
  2. Re-add the device through the Smart Life app.

Device Does Not Appear in the App

  • Confirm the device was added successfully. A solid white indicator light means it is connected.
  • Close and reopen the Smart Life app.
  • Check you are logged into the correct Smart Life account.
  • If the device was previously removed from the app, it will need to be re-added.

Remote Controller Has Stopped Responding

If the remote is no longer controlling the dimmer, it may have lost its pairing. Follow these steps to re-pair it:

  1. Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the dimmer unit.
  2. While holding the button, plug the dimmer into the wall socket.
  3. Watch the indicator light. It will begin blinking quickly, then slow to a slow flash.
  4. Once the light is blinking slowly, release the button.
  5. Press the ON button on the remote. The dimmer should now respond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this dimmer work without Wi-Fi? Yes. The physical button on the device and the included remote controller both work independently of Wi-Fi.

Does this work with 5GHz Wi-Fi? No. The dimmer only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

What is the maximum load for LED bulbs? 160W. Incandescent bulbs can go up to 400W.

Can I use this with smart bulbs? We recommend using the dimmer with standard dimmable bulbs only. Using it with smart bulbs that have their own dimming electronics may cause flickering or reduced lifespan.

What is the warranty period? The Smart Plug-in Dimmer carries a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase.
